Bob Ross paint along S1 e4 – Winter Mist

This is my fourth paint along with Bob Ross. So far they’ve all been fun and shown me that I’m capable of more than I thought while also being rather challenging! I’m doing these on smaller canvas to give myself more leeway to be imperfect and leave out small details.

I’m still working on my happy little trees. I finally caved and got some paint thinner and actual palate knives (I was using cut outs from a plastic juice jug before. Not kidding.)

There are still a few tools I’ll need if I keep this up. Currently I’m using a mix of acrylic, oil, and… fabric paint? Just whatever I have on hand. We’ll see what I decide to treat myself with before the next painting!!

And a few words from the master himself:

And apparently I can drop youtube videos directly into wordpress so that’s nifty! Here’s the video if you want to feel a little inspired.

Commission – Landscape of Boulder, CO

So I posted this photo above a while back. It was my scribbled outline for a commission I was working on.

Progress pics were requested and here I am, ready to deliver!

I did a LOT of sketches of wolves. This was the model I finally settled on for one of them, you can see her center right below:

Bigger sketch! I think I sketched the entire commission two separate times in full color before moving on:

More sketching! For this, I used simple graphite pencil on canvas, and then watered down acrylic paint.

It helped me get a more solid “background” to paint on, and keep all my placements right!

I filled it in with actual colors and shading (sorta, I’m working on it) and voila!:

The finished product.  She loved it!

Go With The Flow

Waterfall

I have a natural ebb and flow of productivity. I strive for and desire consistency, but my natural process seems to come in “spurts” of productivity, followed by more relaxed periods of just getting the basics of my routine out of the way.

I often find myself comparing my productive days with my basic days and can feel like I’m “failing” on my more relaxed days. I’m building a foundation of accepting that flow and trying to work with it rather than against it, realizing that by getting up each day and continuing to chip away, no matter how passionately or tenderly I do so, I am making progress.

It’s kind of like this doodle! One big waterfall goes into a pond, which has lots of little waterfalls that combine again to create larger waterfalls later on down the cascade. It’s the diversity of big falls and little falls that make the whole thing so beautiful!

Try

I used this snippet of the larger quote “Courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it’s the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow'” by Mary Anne Radmacher

Just a little reminder to myself and you. No matter your judgement of your progress today, progress is progress and what matters most is that you get up again tomorrow and you try.

Try until you make it. Try for yourself, try for me, try.

Someday, the world will thank you for never giving up. Until then, I thank you.

Thank you for trying with me.

Bunnies

I’m working on some lovely commissions lately! I sketched these bunnies for one of them and just loved them. So of course, I must share!
